Morris Morrison: Age 1 year and 2 months
Morris Morrison was born on September 29th, 1887 in Ames, Iowa. He later married Ura Garrick who was born April 6, 1900in Ames. Morris was employed as a custodian at Roosevelt School in Ames during the 20's, 30's, and early 40's. Betty Morrison, my mom, remembers Morris when she worked at Roosevelt School as a secretary. Mom told me he had the most beautiful handwriting and every Christmas, he would write a Christmas wish to all the staff and kids at the school on the chalkboard. He later died on October 20th of 1968. Below is a picture of Roosevelt School located on 921 Ninth St. in Ames where Morris worked:
To the left is a picture of Morris taken in the early 1950's we believe. It probably was taken on the Christofferson farm in Ames.

Morris had two kids by his first wife named Mattie. There names were Richard and Carl. Richard was known for being a great roller skater when growing up.

Later, Morris and his second wife Ura Garrick lived in a two-story house with black shutters on 1137 Northwestern Ave. in Ames. A picture of his house is just below. Morris had seven kids with Ura: Bertha, Millie, Hank, Beatrice, Betty, Fritz, and Eddy. Mom recalls that Eddy worked at the Standard station on Lincoln Way in West Ames (next to the Lincoln Apartments). The college kids nicknamed him "the Rabbit" because he always ran out to greet his customers. He provided superb service to the customers. Ed was born on Dec. 17th, 1937 in Ames.

Eddie later married Sandra Kay Myers on April 6, 1959 in Nevada and they lived in West Ames until Sandy's death last year. Edward Morris Morrison passed away recently on Jan. 21st, 2001. He is survived by three daughters and two sons.
