Below is the start of some of my recommendations for Macintosh utilites that I have used and recommended in my troubleshooting classes. These utilities are binhexed and are archived for self-extraction meaning they will expand without the need for another utility with the exception of TechTool Lite. Some of these are shareware so don't forget to pay any licensing fees if you plan to incorporate them into your software arsenal.

Clean Install Assistant: Upgrading a System Folder to a new version of Mac OS often takes a lot of time, because you need to figure out which files to move to the new system and which ones to leave behind (extensions, control panels, printer drivers, application-specific items, special folders, etc.). Clean-Install Assistant makes this process easier and faster because it does this sorting and moving automatically. V. 1.5.2 works with Mac OS 9.2.1

MacTCP Ping: this simple utility is great to have to troubleshoot problem networks.

Highly recommended!! Upgraded for OS 9.2.2!

Cache Killer Pro: here is a stable, easy-to-use utility that removes corrupted and/or old web browser cache files. Works with Netscape, Internet Explorer, American Online, and any other browser you may be using MacTracker: this is a great utility for obtaining information from all Macintosh computers made. You can get memory info; system info; plus much more! Great to use when you want to see how a particular Mac computer is configured. AgNetTools: This is another great network tool from the same folks that gave us EtherPeek. Ping, Traceroute, Name Lookup, plus others! |
