Bergen, Norway Stereograph
On this page is a stereograph taken by Martin Morrison while he was in Bergen, Norway. Just below, is the left side of the original stereograph image. We don't know who the family is in this picture but it looks as though they are high atop a hill overlooking the city. The shot was taken on August 25, 1889. I acquired this shot from eBay and was surprised to learn the person selling this photo lived in my home town of Ames!

Below is a larger, enhanced version of the same photo.
In the 12th and 13th centuries Bergen was the capital of Norway. Bergen was one of the cities of the Hanseatic League in the Middle Ages. Nowadays, Bergen is Norway's second largest city with 220,000 people.

Above is a picture of my uncle Clarence standing in front of Anna Caroline Knudson's home in Bergen. She is the mother of Clarence who was also the wife of Zebulon-Martin's oldest son. Anna was born in Bergen in 1874.

To the right is the back side of the Bergen stereographic image. Unfortunately, there is no written clues about this picture. Martin sometimes wrote interesting facts on the back.
